He made his screen debut in The Wilds in which he received rave reviews, including RobertEbert.com calling him a "stand-out" and "future star" amongst the large cast. Gutierrez-Riley, who is of African-American and Puerto Rican descent, was named one of Essence’s 20 Young Black Hollywood Stars To Watch In 2022.
