He is the eldest son of lawyer and politician V. P. Raman and elder brother of P. S. Raman, Former Advocate-General of Tamil Nadu. His daughter Vidyullekha Raman made her debut in Neethane En Ponvasantham He is also the uncle of Gautam.S.Raman.
