Films directed by him include Chander Pahar, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Amazon Obhijaan, Anusandhan and Cockpit. Mukherjee was briefly arrested along with eight CPIM leaders and workers from Rashbehari Avenue in south Kolkata on October 3, 2022 when they were protesting against alleged vandalism by Trina mool Congress (TMC) workers at one of the party’s book stalls on October 2, 2022.
