Mills started doing nude modeling on the side while attending college as an art major (she specialized in paintings). Barbara acted in her first soft-core movie in 1968. She met her husband Frank Mills in 1969. Frank got her an agent named Hal Guthu; this in turn led to additional work in various soft-core pictures and exploitation features that were made throughout the 1970's. Besides acting in a handful of films, Mills was also an independent painter in the Venice Beach area. Moreover, Barbara was the mother of two children: son Nigel Mills and daughter Carly J. Mills.
